Dogs have this uncanny ability to simultaneously live every day like it’s their last, and still convince us they’ll live forever. No matter how many times you come home from work they’re still just as excited. It doesn't matter if you've left the house for 5 minutes or 5 hours or 5 months.
No matter how many times you throw the ball, it’s still the best thing ever! That game of tug never gets old and yet dog years fly by so fast.
Dogs are the wonderful companions who travel through life with us, without many mile-markers to remind us just how long the journey has been. No school pictures, graduations, no big birthday parties. And sometimes we don't even get to know how long they've been on this planet before finding their way into our hearts and homes.
Somewhere along they way it takes longer to retrieve the stick, somewhere along they way that sweet muzzle goes from black to gray. It quietly dawns on you that the clock may be running short and the only photos you have to commemorate all the love they've brought to your life could disappear with the drop of a cell phone. This is when you start thinking about a Legacy Session. It’s a photo shoot designed to carry on your dogs legacy of love.
We rarely get a say in our dog's timetable. So sooner is always better. They are truly amazing at convincing us that everything is A-OK, that is until the day they just can't hide it any more. Over the years I've spoken to so many grieving pet parents who kept planning to "do it next month" until next month didn't come. And it's a regret that stings like few others.
So if this idea of professional photography has ever crossed your mind, don't wait!
Create the memories now and avoid the regret.
When you've just received the absolute worst news from your dog's veterinarian, you first thoughts may not be "let's take some pictures!" Many people are hesitant to photograph their ill dog. While these sessions can be extremely emotional, everyone I've ever worked with has expressed how grateful they were for the opportunity to create images which truly capture their dog's legacy of love. Many expressing how their photo's helped with the grieving process.
Legacy sessions are designed to photograph your senior or ill dog in a compassionate & dignified way. We'll spend time on their favorite activities with their favorite people, creating a few more beautiful memories.
