Canvas, Metals, and Folios' -Oh WHY?

by Kris Phillips

If you’ve worked with me, been on my site, or follow my social media then you know I’m a huge believer that beautiful images are meant to be printed. But did you ever wonder why I push printing so hard?

After all, we live in a digital world. “IF it’s not on social media it probably didn’t happen”. So why do I feel so strongly about printing? Nope, I’m not just old fashioned. And no, I’m not just trying to make more money. In fact, printing is so important to me that I’ll gift you the social media copy of anything that you put on your wall.

I encourage printing so strongly because I have been doing this long enough to know that the happiest clients are the ones with something to hang, or hold, and enjoy every time they walk into a room.

Beloved images are easily buried and forgotten. How many adorable doggo photos do you have on your phone? How many on your computer? Social media? I’m willing to bet the number is in the thousands. There were an estimated 4.7 trillion photos stored worldwide in 2017.  Have you ever been in the middle of a conversation about that amazingly adorable thing your dog does, whipped out your phone to show someone, and then scrolled and scrolled and scrolled until you forgot what you were looking for? While it’s probably not realistic to print every fun photo, the really important moments shouldn’t be lost in a blizzard of random snaps.

It’s so hard to pick the right size! Before I started meeting with clients one on one to help them find the perfect way to display their favorite images, I constantly got emails from bummed out folks who chose the wrong print sizes. Most print labs wont accept returns. Don’t let the fear of ordering the wrong size keep you from enjoying your cherished moments. I utilize design software that calibrates to your space so we always know what your prints will look like on your own walls.

Images of your loved ones can boost your mood, reduce stress, and even alleviate pain. Imagine coming home at the end of a long, rough day. Your client’s got on your last nerve. Your boss pushed all your buttons. And because you got stuck in traffic, your favorite fur-ball couldn’t resist chewing on your favorite shoes! As you look around, exasperated, your eyes fall on that awesome photo you took with your pup sitting in the wildflowers last Spring. Oh, that day was so perfect. The air was cool but the sun was warm. And the flowers smelled great! You’re reminded that this is just a bad day. You take a deep breath, pour a glass of wine, and snuggle up on the couch with that ornery pooch. Or would you rather stare at a tiny screen?

In fact, I believe so strongly in providing you with artwork you can actually enjoy, that I’ve gone through the process of becoming a Certified Printmaker. It means a commitment to helping you pick the perfect way to display your images. Whether that’s a single showpiece, a wall collection, or my signature Folio Box (pictured above). After our session I’m never going to just hand you a disk and wish you luck figuring out what to do with it. I’m going to sit down with you and help you find the absolute perfect display options for all your favorite photos.

I’m going to deliver a finished product that’s ready for you to enjoy every time you walk into the room.
