Adventures of Broc & Izzy

by Kris Phillips

I met Jill a few years ago when her vet hospital, Coal Mine Animal Hospital, held a 10th anniversary celebration and asked me to provide a photo booth for their loyal clients. The celebration was an absolute blast!

And we had just as much fun a few weeks later taking family photos with her husband, Don, & their fur-babies. So when Jill sent me an email wanting to update their family portraits this year I was elated! I loved seeing Izzy again and getting to meet the newer additions to the family, Broc the Golden Retriever and Lola the kitty.

Normally when you say a dog just LOVES the camera…you mean that they are particularly photogenic. Although I truly believe all dogs are photogenic, they don’t have the image hang-ups we people do. But back to Izzy, she really loves the camera! And I don’t just mean she is insanely adorable (though she clearly is!) I mean that every time she sees a camera, she runs right for it! She was so excited to have her photo taken we got a LOT of extreme close-ups! Yup, that’s her snout photo-bombing Brocs flower picture.

Broc is about the happiest Golden you’ll ever meet. And that’s a pretty high bar! Perhaps it’s because he came from GRRR…which is a pretty funny name for a rescue group that specializes in happy go lucky Goldens. That would be Golden Retreiver Rescue of the Rockies.

These two energetic doggos kept me on my toes and my shutter on high speed! All that time in the water was super fun but poor Broc & Izzy picked up burrs galore frolicking through the tall grass. While Izzy’s coat shed them off quickly poor Broc took a LOT more work. And I think he ended up with a bit of a shaggy haircut.

Little Miss Lola is kinda a shy girl. So I put on my best ninja impression, lured her out of hiding with a crinkle toy and belly crawled across the living room floor. Not sure who thought it was funnier, Lola or Jill. While she didn’t stick around for long, she is the picture of feline puuuurfection in the photos she allowed.

I can’t wait to get this one of a kind wall collection hung for them!
